Young men and women followed Greeley’s advice and migrated west in 1882 to create one of the fastest growing communities in Cass County, North Dakota. Today  stand just nine miles southwest of downtown West Fargo. Horace’s St. John’s Church, built in 1898, occupies a place of honor in this great historic village. Year round celebrations take place in Bonanzaville including a Christmas on the Prairie celebration that the whole family will enjoy.


Horace home for saleIn honor of eastern North Dakota’s dried bean industry, Horace celebrates Bean Days each August. Organizers block local roads near Horace real estate and start a three day celebration that includes cooking up a huge pot of beans and lots of fun. Thousands of folks travel to Horace to enjoy everything from shooting competitions to parades to a pancake breakfast put on by the area’s best cooks. Events continue throughout the weekend with a car show, mud run, disk golf tournament and highly anticipated tug of war. Of course, you can’t have a great community celebration without arts and crafts and lots of good food. A Saturday night street dance tops off the festival. Bean Days events take place near Horace homes.

Horace and other Cass County towns also celebrate the week long Red River Valley Fair each July in nearby West Fargo. Along with traditional carnival rides, games, food and agricultural competitions, the county fairgrounds come alive with the Red River Valley Speedway’s car races.
